Knit Lantern Cover Pattern

These sweet lantern coverings provide a warm light on cold autumn days. Here we have put together the knitting instructions for you. 

The instructions are suitable for glasses with a diameter of approx. 8 cm. Finished size unstretched: circumference 21 cm, width 6.5 cm) What you  

need:

  • Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120 each 50 g in linen (00103) and / or in nature (Fb 00102)
  • Knitting needles 3,0-3,5, auxiliary needle

And this is how it’s done:


Basic pattern: Smooth right = put on right M, knit back rows M on left, cable pattern, see instructions


Knit stitch : With needle size 3.0-3.5 in the cable pattern, 38 stitches and 38-40 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Instructions:
Cast on 24 sts, work in first row, then continue as follows: Work 

sts 4 sts on stockinette sts on stockinette st 5th st: * 3 sts on needle behind knitting piece, knit the following 3 sts on the right, Then knit the M of the needle to the right, repeat from * 
6.-8. R: M stocking stitch 
9. R: knit 3 M right * Add 3 M on cable needle in front of the piece of knitting, knit the following 3 M right, then the M cable needle knitting right, always repeat from *, end with 3 M right , 
Repeat 2 to 9 rounds. 
At a height of about 21 cm, after a 9th row of the braid pattern in the next back row knit all sts left and bind off.

Completion:
threads sewn and close the knitted piece to the ring, but sew the bottom edge with the Abkettkante together.

Tip: 
Instead of stringing the M in the last row, in the last back row you can also grasp the M of the stop edge on an auxiliary needle and knit 1 sts each of the stop edge together with 1 sts of the left edge and then bind off the sts. 
Continue in the pattern up to a cuff height of 16 cm, end with a back. Bind off all sts in the pattern.
